It seems that after five years of gradually building up a friendly following and seeing the success of this year, BeachBuggin' is here to stay as a regular fixture on the south coast, air-cooled event calendar.
Held for the third time at Southsea Common and sponsored once again by Testament Clothing, this was the most successful event to date attracting well over 1,000 air-cooled vehicles of all types and sizes. Mel Baker of the Southern Dune Buggy Club seemed to enjoy himself exclaiming that this event had delivered the biggest number of beach buggies at a UK event so far this year! The WDCS were also present once again raising awareness for their cause helping to protect Whales, Dolphins and their environment.
With 15 of the South coasts most notable air cooled clubs in attendance, a nice variety of V-Dub related traders, swap-meeters and a handful of beach lifestyle related traders the BeachBuggin' scene was set. Eastpak again provided some alternative entertainment for the crowds with their pro BMX and Skate team displays, this proved a popular addition given the close proximity of the show to the famous Southsea skatepark.
Considering the previous day had been a wash out, we were especially happy when once again BeachBuggin' was blessed with lot's of sunshine even if there was a bit of a sea breeze and we spent some of our day holding on to the gazebo (The gazebo unfortunately did not survive).
The show 'n' shine, sponsored by Peter Cooper (VW) Portsmouth and GSF attracted some fine quality vehicles in all categories. The winners in each category won a trophy and the overall best of show also won £100 worth of GSF vouchers and a set of Eastpak luggage.
... and we'll show it here
